Aminul Hakim appoints chairperson of BIGF for 2024-2026

The Bangladesh Internet Governance Forum (BIGF) has announced its new executive committee for the 2024-2026 tenure. Mohammed Aminul Hakim, CEO of Amber IT Limited, has been elected as the Chairperson of the committee.

BIGF serves as a multi-stakeholder platform promoting dialogue and governance on internet-related policies, aligned with the United Nations’ Internet Governance Forum (IGF). The forum provides advisement to the government on advancing internet accessibility, policies, and utilization in Bangladesh.

In his statement, the newly elected Chairperson, Aminul Hakim, emphasized the need for international cooperation in shaping internet policies. “We must develop internet policies not only domestically but also at the international level to eliminate discrimination. Collaboration among multi-stakeholders is essential,” he said. Hakim also outlined plans to organize seminars and workshops on emerging technologies such as IoT, AI, and Big Data, aiming to foster innovation and awareness in these areas.

The position of Secretary General has been entrusted to Mohammad Abdul Haque Anu, who is also the Executive Secretary of Computer Jagat. Anu is known for his active contributions to the ICT sector in Bangladesh.

A H M Bazlur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of BNNRC, has joined the executive committee as an Executive Member. Rahman has been a leading voice in advocating for digital inclusion and community media development.

Md. Saimum Reza Talukder, Senior Lecturer at the School of Law, BRAC University, has been appointed as one of the Vice Chairpersons. Talukder brings expertise in technology law and policy, further strengthening BIGF’s multi-stakeholder approach.
