The Directorate General of Food on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) to import rice from Pakistan.
Md Abdul Khaleque, DG, Directorate General of Food, Bangladesh, and Syed Rafeo Bashir Shah, Chairman TCP, signed the MOU on behalf of their respective sides, according to a release.
The signing ceremony was attended by Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Dhaka Syed Ahmed Maroof, Shakeel Ahmed Mangnejo, Pakistan’s Special Secretary to the Ministry of Commerce, and Bangladesh’s Food Secretary Md Masudul Hasan.
They congratulated both the delegations on this significant step toward strengthening trade and economic ties between the two countries.
Following the MoU signing, the high commissioner called on Bangladesh’ Food Adviser Ali Imam Majumder and discussed bilateral trade ties.
He also presented the adviser a gift on behalf of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
