The Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Shafiqul Alam, has stated that the prices of most daily commodities remain at a tolerable level compared to last year.
āThe government will ensure that prices remain manageable throughout the entire month of Ramadan,ā he said during a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in Dhaka on Saturday.
Shafiqul Alam highlighted that, through collective efforts, the prices of many essential items have stabilised. He further added that if supply remains steady, prices are expected to decrease in the coming days.
Addressing concerns about the unavailability of soybean oil in the market, the Press Secretary acknowledged a shortage of both open and packaged soybean oil.
However, he assured that the shortage of open oil has been significantly reduced due to regular monitoring, and the situation is expected to normalise soon with continued supervision.
Regarding the upcoming elections, he mentioned that a roadmap has already been provided. He also noted that the BNP might be seeking a specific date for the elections and expressed hope that political dialogue with the Election Reform Commission would commence soon.
Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumdar was also present at the briefing.
