Crackdown on illegal gas connections continues in Titas Gas service area

Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd. has intensified its efforts to eliminate illegal gas connections by conducting operations in various areas to combat natural gas pilferage.

On January 14, 2025, a special operation based on confidential information led to the discovery of an illegal gas connection at M/s Mubtadi & Washing Factory, located near the Dhaka-Aricha Highway.

The factory owner, Md. Shafiqul Islam, had illegally installed a 2-inch (100 feet) and a 1-inch (300 feet) service line from a 10-inch × 50 PSIG distribution pipeline. This unauthorized setup was supplying 3,300 cubic feet of gas per day to operate a 500 kg capacity boiler and nine dryers.

The illegal pipeline was sealed, and a General Diary (GD) was filed at Savar Police Station regarding the incident.

Under the leadership of executive magistrates and company personnel, Titas Gas is conducting operations in regions including Keraniganj, Kamrangirchar, Munshiganj, Narayanganj, Savar, Tongi, Gazipur, Dhanmondi, Mirpur, Gulshan, Mymensingh, Meghnaghat, and Narsingdi.

From September 2024 to January 14, 2025, these efforts have led to the disconnection of 19,077 illegal connections, comprising 149 industrial, 94 commercial, and 18,834 residential connections. Additionally, 44,700 burners have been removed, and 95 kilometers of unauthorized pipelines dismantled.
