The Bangladesh Oil, Gas, and Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla) has announced a temporary suspension of RLNG (re-gasified liquefied natural gas) supply for 72 hours.
The suspension will begin at 12:00 noon on Friday, January 10, 2025, and continue until 12:00 noon on Monday, January 13, 2025.
Tariqul Islam Khan, Deputy General Manager (Public Relations) of Petrobangla, confirmed the development on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
According to Khan, the suspension is necessary to facilitate repair and maintenance work at the LNG Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) operated by Excelerate Energy at Moheshkhali.
During this period, another FSRU will remain operational, supplying approximately 550-560 million cubic feet of gas per day.
Despite this measure, some areas may experience low gas pressure due to the reduced supply.
The authorities have expressed regret for the temporary inconvenience and emphasized that the repairs are essential for maintaining a reliable and efficient gas supply system.
